Joint pain can prevent us from doing our daily tasks, and can make even the slightest movements painful, also it can lead to a lot of discomfort, inflammation and swellings as well. Many people around the world are suffering from this type of pain, no matter how old they are.
This pain can variate, it can become from acute to chronic, from mild to severe. Mainly the joint pain is triggered by arthritis and gout, of course some other issues may cause it such as dislocated or broken bones, strained muscles, fibromyalgia, bursitis, lupus, leukemia and injuries. Also it can be triggered from certain types of foods, while some types of foods can soothe it.
Here are the 8 foods you should avoid if you are dealing with joint pain:
Red & Processed Meat
Nitrite and purine are contained in the processed and red meats, and they can cause an inflammation, and they have other toxins such as products AGEs and glycation.
At the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, a study was preformed in which it was proven that the glucan that is contained in red meat is supporting the growth of cancer cells and can make an inflammation even worse.
Also there is another study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in which it was found a bond between the inflammation makers and red meat.
Sugar & Artificial Sugars
AGEs and inflammation can be triggered by artificial sugars and excess sugar amounts. The inflammation agents called cytokines are triggered by the sugar. Also weight gain and pressure on the joints are caused from sugar.
Also sweet drinks and sodas contain sugar and you should avoid them. Also there is a study from 2014 in which it was proven that these types of foods and drinks are the main cause for rheumatoid arthritis in women.
So, you might want to start avoiding candies, sodas, sugar, sweets, pastries, cereals that contain sugar and snacks and start using molasses, Stevia and honey instead.
The joint pain can be worsened if you are consuming alcohol. There are purines contained in the beer, which are later transformed in uric acid and they are causing joint pain. The beer has also a lot of gluten which is pretty bad for our fragile joints.
Swellings and inflammation can be caused by consuming eggs on regular basis. The yolk of the egg contains arachidonic acid which is producing prostaglandins, and they are making the inflammation even worse. There are also saturated fats contained in the eggs that are making things worse.
Grains & Refined Flour
They are stimulating more AGEs and supporting the inflammation due to their high glycemic index.
It is scientifically proven that the development of chronic autoimmune diseases is supported by the regular consumption of grain cereals and wheat items, they are also increasing the risk of diabetes, cancer and heart issues as well. Replace them with brown rice, whole grain, almond grain and coconut grain.
The dairy products contain a lot of proteins, so they are making thins even worse. The Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine reported that the protein is irritating the tissues around our joints too.
Also the pain can become even more intense from the saturated fats contained in the dairy products, such as in butter, milk and cheese. Instead of them you should consume margarine, tofu, soy and almond milk.
The inflammation can even become worse from gluten and casein. The uric acid is produced by the casein, and if we have it in excess levels we are very likely to experience joint inflammation.
This condition is also called “gout”. The people who are sensitive to gluten are very prone to this condition. There is a study from 2013 published by the Journal of Nutrition Biochemistry, in which it was scientifically proven that foods that don’t contain gluten are reducing the insulin resistance, adiposity and inflammation.
Monosodium Glutamate Foods
In order to improve a certain food’s flavor, the MSG additive is added. But this additive is very dangerous if you are dealing with rheumatoid arthritis.
The salt we are using for our meals is very rich in additives and many other chemicals that are dangerous for us. Avoid table salt if you want to prevent yourself from losing calcium from your body. So, if you are consuming a food that contains more salt, make sure you replace it with sea salt or Himalayan salt.
The omega-6 acids are very bad for our overall health, and they are contained in huge amounts in the corn oil. There is a study in which it was proven that these acids are triggering inflammation, the study was published by the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism.
So you might want to start avoiding safflower oil, grape seed oil, salad dressings, peanuts and soy. Don’t remove these acids entirely from your diet but make sure you intake them moderately.
